Your elevator pitch is a critical weapon in your professional revenue-generating arsenal. It’s your audition for professional attention, your calculated attempt to be noticed and to matter to others. The skills to develop a strong elevator pitch will serve you well, forever. It’s a set of skills most business people don’t fully understand, but covet. It’s the rare ability to capture the interest and imagination of someone you have just met—in about the time it would take both of you to enter an elevator, travel down to the lobby level, and then cross the office building foyer together before saying good-bye and heading in separate directions.

I am sharing these chapters with you with the intention that each will be of great help. Feel free to share the copies with your friends.

Self-confidence is an attitude which allows us to have positive yet realistic views of ourselves and our situations. We are confident when trust our own abilities, have a general sense of control of our lives, and believe that, within reason, we shall be able to do what we wish, plan, and expect.

My mentor once said that if we truly believe that we are sons and daughters of God, we need not fear. To stand up and share our experiences, thoughts, and aspirations is a gift to our listener.

I remember an International Speech contestant who said that every time we stop trying, “a piece of God dies in us… a piece of God dies in us.” Another great speaker said that if we want to fly, we must first come to the edge…jump, and then fly.
