I am also looking for marketing partners

September 10, 2008 Jef Menguin 2 comments

Yes, I motivate people. But I only motivate the motivated. I don’t want to spend most of my time with people who don’t even think they need motivation.

This is why I am looking for marketing partners. Not just marketing executives. I know that there are well-motivated marketing executives out there, and these kind of people will be successful in their lives whatever they do.

When I made an announcement for marketing executives, I got more than 15 applications. I interviewed them all over the phone. Interviewed five in person. And I did not get anyone. Why?

Some of them are more interested with their salaries than telling me what they have that will add value to the company. Like most people, they have programmed to focus their attention on the 15th and 30th of the month. When I asked for their experiences, everyone said they are willing to learn on the job. Of course, they must learn and must continue on learning.

I have simple questions for them. Let me give you their sample answers.

How do you see yourself five years from now?

Answers:
-Haven’t thought of that.
-Sir, hirap naman ng tanong.
-Maybe sir, I am still in this company.
-Five years from now…(long pause, no answer)

How do you think you can help us?
-Siyempre naman sir.
-I will try to learn sir.
-I will market sir.
-I will do everything that you ask me to do for you sir..(OMG)

Do you really believe that you can do marketing for us?
-Yes sir.
-Siyempre naman sir.
-I will not apply if I think I cannot do that sir.
-Sir, this is just my stepping stone.

Do you think you can close one million worth of training programs for us every month?
-Yes, sir!
-I think so sir!
-Susubukan ko sir!
-(long silence)…mahirap yata yun sir.

So, you’ll be contented with 80,000 as your commission every month?
-Talaga sir!
-Yes, sir!
-Malaki yata yun sir.
-Yes, sir.

So, you can work with us on performance basis. No salary, just commission?
-I am really looking for a job kasi sir!
-Sir, kahit walang commission, ok lang.
-Okay lang siguro yun sir!
-Tanggap na ba ako sir?

Yes, I know that most people are after the “security” that salary offers. Unfortunately, I won’t offer that salary. I am not in the “security” business. I am in the helping-people-think-outside-the-box-business. And precisely, I am looking for people who are not in the security of the salary box.

Do you know people  who

  • want to do more, earn more, and be more
  • believe in helping other people to be successful so they too become successful
  • do not want to put a ceiling on how much they earn every month (read: you may earn10k, 50k or 100k a month–everything depends on your desire to earn)
  • are lifelong learners–as our workshops will provide them opportunities to learn further
  • commit himself to becoming more and more everyday.

None?
No problem.

I am looking for Independent Resource Trainers

September 10, 2008 Jef Menguin 2 comments

For the past three months, I focused 80 percent of my time building The Leaders Club. So, excited that i found myself working from 7am to 8pm almost daily. Don’t make a mistake of thinking that I am a workaholic. Far from that. I have realized that I can do an 8 hour work for two hours. That is when I compare myself to others who work on the same project. But then again, that happens when I am not “working” for a deadline or for a person. That happens when I am doing something that I love doing. Last Monday, I went home 9pm. Never mind the flood in Pasong Tamo extension, and the lightning, and thunder.  I finished saying thank you to Photoshop designers…

I want you to know that I am looking for superpeople who have the same enthusiasm and passion for doing something like helping build more leaders, inspiring people to make a better change, and help this country one more step higher everyday.

I pray that God give me more independent resource trainers that have the passion to make a difference in the lives of people. Let me describe these trainers.

I am looking for those who have sense of humor. Those who don’t take themselves so seriously. Those who don’t think that they are the source of all knowledge, and they are the epitome of success. I am looking for trainers who can facilitate seminars and workshops. Trainers who can provide tools that workshop participant can use daily in their personal and professional lives. Yes, I am not looking for a self-styled guru or a self-proclaimed god.

Having said that, I expect therefore that these IRTs (independent resource trainers) apply fully the laws of adult learning, experiential learning, active learning, and a little of Kolb. Lecturers are fine with me, but only for 15 minutes. However, I am willing to listen if the trainer will guarantee that after 30 minutes I will have converted my talents to one million dollars, or create classrooms for children. Give me a break. 99% of those who listened through lectures when they were in college no longer remember what the lectures were all about. The good one percent who did now teaches in colleges. I bet that you have learned much of what you know now from self-studying, from discovering skills in the wonderful world called workplace. I am looking for trainers who can make every session fun, friendly, and fantabulous.

But I am not looking for a clown.

I expect the IRTs to believe completely what they say. Someone who walk the talk. I am looking for someone who knows the fundamental principles and help the participants to discover it for them faster, cheaper, and better.
Give us the best practices and help us do better than that. We want solid content. And when you do, we shall also be inspired.

Yes, I believe that the best way to motivate people is to provide them tools. I will listen to your struggles and life–your miserable life in the philippines, your Maalala Mo Kaya moments–but as a participant, I am more interested about the concrete steps you took to be successful. Please don’t tell me that to be successful I have to first,  be burned alive, survived, and then be committed to my goals. As a participant, give me the tools, and I will pay as much as the value of my future.

To sum it up my dear readers, I am looking for IRTs who

  1. have humor, passion, and enthusiasm
  2. can facilitate using the principles of adult learning and learning by doing
  3. has the BIG idea which may help me change from good to better, from better to best
  4. can provide me concrete steps on how to achieve my goals, and
  5. can motivate my workshop participants.

I am just looking for 12 independent resource trainers for the following areas

  • communication
  • leadership
  • customer service
  • teambuilding
  • human resource management
  • marketing, and
  • sales.
